This is a critical issue for El Dorado County..... We are a major part of the "Watershed" for the Delta's water.
We are the "State of Origin" water rights that feed into the Delta's water, and our water rights is one that Kern County's Water Agency has been taking a hard look at -- for YEARS! .....
Can we use all the water that flows out of El Dorado County's American rivers? No, and Yes, we have a responsibility to SHARE with those downstream..... BUT, and this is a very strong "BUT" we must make sure we are NOT taking the short end of the stick like the San Joaquin river and Owens Valley did.
The NEW Requirements on EDC with this plan includes:
More water flow,
Higher water quality, and
NEW GROUND-WATER standards (Well people..this is YOU!).
The three pipe diversions (Down from the 5 pipes) has a SET consumption -- 9,000 cfs they say--BUT it is able to consume 15K cfs.... Water during Droughts will be made up by the "Watershed" counties (That's US) -- not the Cotton Farmer who doesn't want to accept environmental responsibility when flushed out all fish in the river when he pumped out flood water on his property, OR when his farm poured fertilizer into the canal water and killed 10 Million fish (per DF&G reports). Can you imagine the smell for miles?
ELC residients need to keep their eye on this Delta Plan that is nothing more than circumventing exisiting State laws and giving Boswell the water he wants so he can sell it to Sounth
